Babcock Wanson Deodorising Oxidiser
Commissioned to meet the specific needs of one of our customers in Saudi Arabia, specialising in poultry rendering, the Babcock Wanson Italy teams set up a process for treating effluent from the cooking of offal, bones and feathers.

The main challenge was to improve air quality on the production site by reducing odours. We also had to enable our customer to optimise its process while complying with the highest environmental standards.

To achieve this, Babcock Wanson Italy supplied a global solution comprising two INC/DEO/16500 thermal oxidisers, which guarantee effective effluent treatment, combined with two recovery boilers with a capacity of 20 t/h, ensuring that condensates are returned to the boiler at high temperature, thus maximising the overall energy efficiency of the process.

The two production lines used by the customer are fuelled by diesel and also recovered animal tallow, a process made possible by an ultrasonic burner with high atomisation efficiency.

In addition, a water treatment station was also supplied to the customer, comprising a softening skid to guarantee the quality of the water used and an atmospheric deaerator for optimum treatment of dissolved gases.

The unit is fully capable of treating up to 16,500 kg/h of effluent per line, as well as 28,000 kg/h of air, with a steam recovery capacity of up to 20 tonnes/h at 10 barg.

A project managed from A to Z by Babcock Wanson Italy, from design to commissioning.

It is through this type of project that Babcock Wanson best illustrates its vocation and commitment to energy performance and environmental excellence.
